Friday night fish and chip special was very good the fish had a nice crispy outer layer while the inside was soft and moist,not dry,giving it a great taste. The service was quick and friendly. The French onion soup was not your traditional baked onion soup but had a slice of cheese layed across the top of the bowl. The soup tasted good with a good mix of croutons,cramelized oinions,green oinions in a beef broth.
It has been 20 years since I visited the DH and it will at least that before I return. This place is a mess. It took forever for our food to arrive (since the cook was out talking to the waiter so long), and when we finally got our meal, the fish was literally dripping with grease. The cornbeef was terrible, was cut way too thick. I purchased two Groupon coupons, and literally gave the other one away when we were there, so we did not have to return. Terrible terrible terrible is all I can say.
There were four of us that strolled in on a week night to take in some late night grub after a show. The waitstaff was friendly and more than helpful, allowing us to order right down to the last minutes of the open kitchen. The decor is all around pub with the expected beer logos dangling here and there. I have always found it clean and overall a welcoming place. I was new to the area, the barmaid was fantastic, welcoming, chatty and made me feel right at home. Food was wholesome and the atmosphere was welcoming, reminded me of places back in the UK. Excellent, well done DH!
We are regulars on Wednesday nights to enjoy Kenneth MacLeod and his awesome band. It's a great night of fun listening to the tunes and catching up with friends. Staff are friendly and easy going. It's a great laid back place to hang out.
