Their buffet, while small is really delicious. They continuously improve their recipes to satisfy customers. Really great meal for the price and atmosphere is very authentic and interesting.
I was not very happy at all with the food. Though the service people seemed cool and seemed to be running around trying to take care of things. And the price is not bad at all. To make it clear, I went for the buffet portion. I'll first say, I know my Indian food pretty well and I honestly had some issues distinguishing what some of the stuff was since the taste of pretty much everything was bland. Second, I know its a buffet, but the food didn't seem that fresh. Selection - not great. all in all, a total miss for me. Bland, not fresh, and poor selection. ps the person who compared it to bengali dishes hit the nail on the head. i had bengali friends and have eaten fresh bengali food and i found it very bland...it would be sweet or way too spicey but everything would taste very bland. this is what this experience was like. if you know indian food, you know that each food has a very distinct flavor. for example, butter chicken should have a distinct creamy sauce. this did not have it at all..it seemed almost like the sauce that goes with korma. very weird.
My favourite Indian food in Ottawa! I have been to many Indian restaurants in the ottawa area, and especially those close to this one, and none of them even compare to the quality of food served here. There is a wide variety, from sweet Punjabi-style sauces to some hot south Indian flavours. The naan is fresh and always tastes wonderful. The desserts are great and very authentic. Overall the food is wonderful. The atmosphere is very nice too. The waiters are very kind and pleasant, and always say hi and chat when we come in. The service is not fast, so do not plan to be in and out in a hour or less, but the food is worth the wait. It is always made fresh. My roommates and I either eat in or take out at LEAST once a month...we can't get enough!! I reccommend this restaurant to everyone I know, and so far, none of my friends have been disappointed. They all have become frequent visitors themselves!
The greatest tasting Indian food in Ottawa. If you don't like it, you really have no taste. From mild to flavourful to the hottest dishes. My husband and I are Canadian and love the food. My favourites are the tandoori and Naan, his are the "sweat from the head" spicy hot dishes. We visit at least 5 times a year. Have even hooked our kids (in their twenties) into going. The service is slower than most are used to but really, do you want to be rushed through dinner. We plan to visit over Christmas just to get away from so much turkey. The only drawback is the frequent takeout people who have to venture through the restaurant to the back as they have not been able to get a table. Hope you give it a try, as I'd hate for the negative reviewers to slow their business.
We will not return. The food was disgusting - inedible even. The place is not clean.
