This is the best authentic french cuisine I have ever had in Toronto!This lovely little seemingly undiscovered gem has been under new ownership for the past 6 months and it shows! Renovated, the decor is simple, yet elegant with warm hues reminiscent of the south of France with charles Aznavour's wonderful voice serenating in the background. Most importantly though, the food was exceptional. My husband had escargots and I had moules marinieres to start, steamed mussels infused in white wine with just the right dose of garlic and shallots. The lovely hostess recommended the Rack of lamb with fresh herbs, that is Ontario Lamb! It was wonderfully flavorful, it just melts in your mouth. My husband had teh poached fillet of sole with a smoked salmon filling which he loves.My dessert, the creme brulee was to die for! We both also really appreciated the attention to details shown throughout the evening, the staff was attentive without being intrusive. An all around beautiful culinary experience which we can't wait to relive. Highly, highly recommended!!!
We,along with literally dozens of friends and family,have been regulars at La Petite France since the first week opf its opening 17 years ago.
We have celebrated numerous occassions there and indeed have had both of our daughters' weddings catered by the restaraunt.
We have nothing but praise for the food and the service.
Some of the comments made by others are entirely inaccurate.
Owner/waiter was completely rude and mostly invisible throughout the meal. He spent the evening on the house phone having a personal conversation, just 10 ft from our table. The overpriced duck was dry and tastless, as were the coq au vin and the lambshanks. Don't waste your money, this only thing french about this place is the attitude!
