This review is way past due; I've been coming here frequently for over 5 years now for no reason other than it is FANTASTIC. The master chef and his wife are such lovely people who's efforts and dedication to the restaurant really have a great influence on the atmosphere. Did I mention that the food is amazing? The rolls are made fresh and just simply really well. I love the design of the seating area and how the booths are separated it really gives a cozy feel to the place. I got here for lunch often because it is close to my work. Prior to that my boyfriend took me a few times too, since he lives nearby and loves the place. I'm quite surprised at some of the reviews here though. I love the place! I feel very welcomed, the service is good, and the atmosphere is quite nice. I've never been disappointed with their food, and find the quality much better than some restaurants. That said, I would note that I find them to be a bit pricey. So overall, it's a great place! Ginko was the first Japanese restaurant my boyfriend took me to before we started dating. I was quite skeptical upon first glance, since they're located by the airport and inside a hotel. Once inside and seated in a comfortable booth, and eating, my opinion of this establishment quickly changed. Not only does this restaurant make you feel like you've literally stepped into Tokyo (as evidenced by the traditional booths, decor and Japanese waitresses serving you in Yukatas), the food will surpass your expectations. My boyfriend was in charge of ordering, and he ordered us assorted sushi and sashimi on a boat. We were met with excellent service, and I must say--the quality of the fish and dining experience will have us be returning again soon. Lire plus

I always thought that the area needed a sushi place, as in the area of Bathurst/Finch and Bathurst/Sheppard there were no sushi places. In fact, the nearest sushi place was located on Yonge St. My family had the AYCE dinner (the dinner is 18.95 from Monday to Thursday and 20.95 for Friday and the Weekend). The sushi quality was really good, and I noticed that many of the other clients chose to order the sushi using the regular menu (the non AYCE option). In addition, The Sashimi slices were really big and very fresh. I also liked the environment of the Restaurant, and found the costumer service to be very good. I've probably been here 3 or 4 times now. I keep coming back because the service is so good! Not to mention the food is fantastic (the complimentary crunchy soup is to die for). The last time I went, my table got the spider roll, seaweed salad, green dragon roll, spicy salmon roll, and some other roll (I can't remember the name). They were delicious! All was served in a sequential manner; we were served complimentary soup immediately as we sat down, then we ordered, after which we were served complimentary green salad while we waited for our rolls. We were never without food! With all that's included with the rolls, the value is really great. Although it's not too impressive from the outside, the inside is pretty good. It's not fancy, but very laid back. I took my grandmother here for her first sushi experience, and she loved it. I had such good service today, that I had to give these guys some publicity! As an avid traveler, I have tried sushi in many states: California, Arizona, Florida, Maine, Nevada ... Nothing compares to Mitsui sushi. My boyfriend and I are always excited to get home and go to "our" place. The food is always fresh and consistent. The atmosphere could be improved but let's be honest, you're not going there for the ambiance. The food is so delicious you're not even paying attention to your suroundings. we are here to try something we haven't tried last time~ here we go~ Tempura & Kalbi combo is delicious~ tempura vegis include 3 shrimps, 1 green pepper, 1 cucumber, 1 broccoli, 1 white onion, 1 sweet potato...(maybe i missed 1 more vegi) however, it's very satisfying... grilled kalbi is like bone-in beef teriyaki... very flavorful~ Sushi & Sashimi combo is awesome-ly fresh-ly delicious~ simply excellent for its price~ alright~ here comes the Salmon Head BBQ~ without this meal, I will give them 5 stars on Food catagory~ it's kinda dissapointing that the Salmon Head isn't grilled to order~ the salmon skin isn't charred till crispy~ it's more like it has been "microwaved"~ the interior is a bit hotter than the exterior of the Salmon~ the only drawback of the whole meal~ however~ the rest is still maintained to its perfection so far~ keep it up~ and see you next time~ Lire plus

After seeing *some* favourable reviews and while in the Yorkdale area, I decided to try this place out. So I hope that I'm not being biased after reading unfavourable reviews about their service. We ordered Hwe Dup Bap (sashimi salad) and a dumpling soup with clear noodles - sorry, I don't remember the name. Shortly after placing ordering, 5 side dishes were brought out. Their flavours varied and they were yummy! The salad was perfect for a light, late lunch. Lotsa flavour, especially after adding the sweet/spicy chilli sauce which was provided in a squeeze bottle! My bf said that the dumpling broth was okay. Service-wise, side dishes were taken away, not replenished. And I had to ask for our tea to be refilled! Waitresses seemed waaay more attentive to a table of Korean men. Maybe it's because waitresses are more comfortable speaking their own language. So although service wasn't terrible per se, be a bit proactive to get even better service! Lire plus

A great sushi restaurant in Canada?! Wow I didn't think it could happen. We've been to Ichiban a few times now and brought friends. This place really is a hidden gem beside hockey sushi. Their rolls are nothing short of spectacular. The tiger roll and crispy roll are two of my favourites. The presentation of the rolls is always great, and how do you beat sauce that's deep fried? They also serve some korean dishes, and we had their bul-go-gi. I found it to be really good! The place seems to be run by Korean people, so maybe that's why. Service was exceptional. You can choose to sit at tables or in private rooms. The waitresses don't speak perfect English, but they're very friendly, polite, and helpful.
