"The store's physical location has been in the family since the ’50s," says Julie Fass, owner of Ziggy's At Home. In 2005, she turned her grandfather's leather goods business into a home décor and gifts shop.
"My grandfather dedicated his life to his work here,” says Julie. “He owned and operated a store called Fass Leather Goods, which sold purses, leather cases and other accessories. He worked until he was 91 years old, almost until the day he passed away." Since the store played such an important role in Julie's and her family's lives, the thought of someone else occupying the space was hard for her to digest. "So I ended up opening my own store here, picking up where my grandfather had left off," she says.
Today, Ziggy's At Home sells décor items and accessories, home fragrances, gifts and even clothing. "It was important for me that my grandfather's name would still be on the doors. His name was Zelig, but everyone called him Ziggy, hence the store's name," says Julie. It seems entrepreneurship and the love of beautiful objects run in the Fass family.
