Tibebe and his wife share a passion for three things: food, music and art. After working in financial planning and owning a restaurant on the Danforth, respectively, Tibebe and his wife decided the time had come to pursue a project that would incorporate all of their interests. In 2011, Hirut Café was born.
Hirut Café provides the Danforth area with dishes inspired by traditional Ethiopian cuisine at a reasonable price. “Our restaurant is very cozy. It looks like home,” says Tibebe. “We have a great deal of popular vegetarian dishes that are all cooked from scratch with fresh local ingredients. That’s probably what draws customers to the restaurant–at least, menu-wise.”
