“I love coffee,” says Robin Delany, owner of Delany’s Coffee Houses across British Columbia’s Lower Mainland. “It’s still my beverage of choice.” In 1993, Robin’s passion for coffee led him to start the chain of coffee shops, hoping to provide a fresh experience for coffee lovers that offered delicious, high-quality coffees and gave neighbours and community members a place to meet, catch up and get to know each other a little better.
“We wanted to do something different than the other guys,” Robin explains. “We wanted to be more of a community; a neighbourhood gathering place.”
Delany’s Coffee Houses are distinct and unmistakable—the natural wood surfaces and earthy, organic feel standing in stark contrast to the sterile, laminate aesthetic of larger chains. The mood inside follows suit, as customers are welcomed into a warm, pleasant environment that encourages sitting around, talking with neighbours and taking the time to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee.
